Giant Hogweed

Giant Hogweed is regulated under the same Wildlife and Countryside Act as Japanese Knotweed and as a result proactive control measures are paramount. Giant Hogweed is a perennial plant which can grow up to 5m tall and contains a sap that on contact causes serious blisters and burns on humans and is one of the most invasive plant species found in the UK.

Ragwort

Ragwort is native to the UK and is specified as an Injurious weed in the Weeds Act 1959 and the Ragwort Control Act 2003. This means that landowners have a duty of care for the control of Ragwort and positive action needs to be taken. Poisonous to horses and livestock, Ragwort is in fact one of the most frequent causes of plant poisoning of livestock in Britain.

Himalayan Balsam

Growing to more than 2-3m in height with small pink hooded flowers, Himalayan Balsam produces up to 800 seeds that can travel up to 7m from seed pods. Preferring moist areas the plant suffocates all others in the vicinity which causes erosion issues on river banks.
